Tom Cruise sliding across the floor in his socks, whitey-tightie’s, long-sleeve shirt with up-turned collar and singing ‘Old Time Rock n’ Roll’ in the movie, Risky Buisness – sums up how I felt when I walked into The Bandon House. If Brett the owner hadn’t been there and I wasn’t in a hurry after he left to take photo’s before my entourage arrived, I would have turned up the home’s sound system and performed my own jig.
Yeah, I was pretty stoked staying in this 4,650 sq ft vacation rental.
On assignment, once again, for Vacation Rental Travels, I found myself in a property that made me feel like I was living like a rock star. My last article landed me a penthouse suite in Vancouver, B.C Canada and it was totally sweet; this time to the Oregon coast. Bandon is a couple of hours drive from the California border and I was here for a week’s vacation with my parents to do some crabbing and live a couple of days in luxury (the other days we stayed in their RV – talk about going from princess to pauper).
Ensconced within the forest with its private pond, this house was tailored-made for vacationers and entertaining. From the moment you arrive the house portrays luxury and fulfills it throughout the home. The owner has gone out of his way to make sure your stay is full of enjoyment and ease.
I could go on and on about how each bedroom had its own computer, television set and upscale bathroom. How comfy the beds are and how precision clean the whole place is (you will think you’re the first to stay here).
Or I could ramble on about the master suite’s shower; it is the ultimate experience. How it is designed as a steam room and when the organic lavender soap mingles with the steam – WOW, it’s so relaxing – then, while you’re enjoying the three head rain shower from the ceiling and the three jet streams that come from the side wall – ohh la la, Talk about appeasement!
Perhaps I can babble about how cool it was watching a projected movie in the 104′ cinema room with its leather chairs, antique popcorn machine with authentic popcorn containers, beverage fridge and enough streaming options to make everyone in the party happy.
The kitchen, they do say that the kitchen is the main hub of the house. This one certainly was the spot where we all migrated to – it was hard not to be drawn in, with the high-end espresso/cappuccino machine and supplied syrups so we could make our own specialty java in the morning.
And… the huge array of spices and baking ingredients supplied, is super convenient, just bring your basic food. We brought ribs to BBQ, but forgot the BBQ sauce. No store run needed, Brett had all the ingredients stocked – so we made our own…. and it was better than store bought.
Oh… the hot tub! Just outside the outdoor kitchen area (where we conjured up some tasty mixed-drink concoctions) – the tub beckoned us to relax within its swirling hot waters. An outdoor fire-place sits beside it to the right for perfect ambiance, and sports fans, a nice size flat screen is on a wall to the left…. so no play will go unseen.
I can mention the delicious dinners we ate on the outdoor patio; the fire blazing, the hot tub circulating and the heat lamp lit – set the perfect atmosphere for our seafood feast.
Then, there is the game of horseshoes that we played and the pool table in the lower level where we got a quick game in before departing.
What I will do… is highly recommend you taking a trip to the Oregon coast, and book enough days stay to take full advantage of all the amenities this house offers, so that you too can experience pure hedonism at The Bandon House.
I guarantee you won’t want to leave.
